If you're just getting started making decorative scrapbook pages, try picking something monochromatic. (Build around a color that stands out in your photos. Or make it even easier by going black and white with either your photos or your decorations.) Choose papers with simple, understandable designs rather than intricate, busy patterns. Doing things like this will help your photos stand out and make your choices easier (double whammy!).
