(Nobody I know photographs kids quite like my dear friend, Ulrica Wihlborg. Besides being an assistant editor at People magazine, she's also a professional lifestyle photographer. Talk about multitalented!
Although I first met her when she covered my wedding for People, it was after Ashby was born and we started sharing stories and photos of our little ones that our friendship really started to click.
Here's what she told me....)
Digital photography has so revolutionized the way we take pictures. But with the cameras we have today, it's almost too easy to just shoot, shoot, shoot and hope that one of your photos will turn out.
That's probably the number one mistake I see people make. I believe we need to approach each shot with the idea of making it as good as it can be and not a potential throwaway. We all know we can crop and retouch our images later. But if you try and fool yourself into thinking that you can't, you're going to get a better result to start with.
If we all did only that one thing, we'd instantly be taking better pictures. And we would, no doubt, have lots fewer of them to download to our computer, sort through, back up, print and possibly even make us feel a little overwhelmed when we sit down to turn them into an album!
